Eli Whitney invents the Cotton Gin and business starts booming for the South. Used for separating seed from the cotton. This made slaveholders want more slaves in order to gather cotton faster. This invention revolutionized the cotton industries in the United States.

Uncle Tom's Cabin was an anti-slavery novel on how life was actually like in the South. It revealed the South's true identity on how slaveholders treated slaves and abused them, while the South denied and claimed they had a happy life in the South as well as the slaves. This angered the North, While also bringing more support and determination to abolish slavery.
